Hello,
I have an 05 Towncar Signature. The keyless entry pad stopped working reliably.
I took it to a dealer. The service manager called and said it was working, though some of the buttons are sticky. He told me he used the factory code. He gave me the code and I told him that the code he was using didn't sound like the same code on the card from the factory.
The guy said he pulled the code he was using from some type of device they use in the shop. I asked him to check the owners' manual packet and see if it was the same code as the one on the factory card.
The guy came back, and the code he had was different. I picked the car up that night, and using the code the service manager provided the keyless entry worked.
The think is still flakey, probably due to the sticking keys. I've had 4 Lincolns, and 3 or 4 Ford's w/ keyless entry. I have never had one fail before this.
Anyone else ever seen this behavior? What's involved in replacing the keypad? I've looked it up at Ford Parts, and it's a $75 part. I'm guessing the door has to be torn apart to replace it.
